How many mAh do I need?

Smartphone

A 10,000 mAh power bank is ideal for most users. With it, you can fully charge an average smartphone about 1.5 to 2 times, depending on which model you have. Are you on the road for several days or do you use your smartphone intensively, for example for video, navigation or photography and do you also want to charge accessories? Then you can opt for a power bank with 20,000 mAh or more. With this you can charge your smartphone 3 to 4 times.

iPhone

The newer iPhone models have a battery capacity of 3,500 mAh. A 10,000 mAh power bank is sufficient to charge an iPhone. You will never get the maximum capacity (the full 10,000 mAh) from a power bank. So you can fully charge your iPhone an average of 1.5 to 2 times, depending on which iPhone model you have. Are you going away for the weekend or do you want to charge multiple iPhones or accessories at the same time? Then choose a 20,000 mAh power bank. This can charge your iPhone up to 3 to 4 times.

Samsung

Samsung Smartphones have a battery capacity of 4,500 mAh, you never get the maximum power from a power bank. So a power bank of 10,000 mAh is certainly enough to charge your Samsung 1.5 times with it.

Tablet

Newer tablet models have an average battery capacity of 8,000 to 10,000 mAh, think of popular models such as the iPads or Samsung Galaxy Tabs. A power bank with a capacity of 20,000 mAh is recommended. With this you can certainly fully charge your tablet once.

How many watts do I need?

Smartphone

The wattage in the power bank determines the charging speed. The faster you want to charge, the higher the power should be, depending on how much power the device you want to charge supports. A power bank with a power of 20 watts is generally more than enough to charge your smartphone.

iPhone

The wattage your power bank needs to charge optimally is 27W of power. This is because the newer iPhone models can charge at 27W or more.

Samsung

The newer models of Samsung smartphones can charge up to 45W. You can easily charge your Samsung with a power bank with less than 45W, but if you want to get the maximum charging power, a power bank with more than 45W power is recommended.

Tablet

A power bank with a capacity of 20W is sufficient to charge standard tablets and iPads. For fast charging of models such as iPad Pro or Galaxy Tab S8/9 we recommend a power bank with at least 45W capacity.

What size power bank do I need?

When choosing a power bank, many people immediately think of capacity, but size and weight are also important. The difference between a compact, pocket-sized power bank and a laptop power bank is significant. The right size depends entirely on how, where and what you use your power bank for.

  • The compact pocket sizes are usually a maximum of 10,000 mAh and are light and small. 10,000 mAh power banks usually fit easily in your jacket pocket, trouser pocket or small handbag. Super handy if you have little space. This power bank is suitable for charging your smartphone 1.5 to 2 times. 10,000 mAh power banks weigh approximately 175 grams.
  • 20,000 mAh power banks are usually medium-sized. They are ideal for those who are without a power outlet for several days, want to power a device for a longer period of time or want to charge multiple devices at the same time. They are a bit larger, but still easy to carry in the front pocket of your backpack or hand luggage. With this you can charge a smartphone 3 to 4 times and a tablet ±1 time. These power banks weigh approximately 350 grams.
  • Larger power banks of more than 20,000 mAh are suitable for intensive use or charging a laptop. These are heavier and weigh approximately 700 grams. Note that you can take a maximum of 27,000 mAh on the plane. The MOJOGEAR Ultra Laptop power bank falls exactly within the limit with 26,800 mAh.

How many ports do I need?

When choosing a power bank, the number of ports is very important. The choice for this differs per situation, depending on what you want to use the power bank for. Do you need 3 or more ports? This is useful if you want to charge your smartphone, tablet and smartwatch at the same time. This is also practical if you want to share the power bank with someone else, because then you have enough connections. Also look for a power bank with built-in cables , this way you prevent forgetting your cables and you can charge your devices. Ideal for families, festivals and content creators.

What is Low Current Mode?

Low Current Mode is a special feature that allows you to charge devices with very low power consumption, such as wireless earbuds (e.g. AirPods), smartwatches, fitness trackers or Bluetooth accessories.

Normal power banks automatically detect if a device is connected. But if a device requires less than 60 mA, the power bank thinks that nothing is connected and switches off after a few seconds, so the power bank will not charge anything.

Low Current Mode prevents this. It ensures that the power bank remains active. So if you want to buy a power bank with the aim of charging a device with low power consumption, always check if the power bank supports Low Current Mode.
