Headphones

Before recording, it is wise to check whether the volume is correct and your audio settings are correct. By connecting headphones or earphones, you can also easily monitor the audio during recording. This way you can hear whether the microphone is aimed correctly and whether the volume is not too loud or soft. It is also wise to continue monitoring the volume during recording.

Smartphone, laptop or computer with editing software

It may not immediately come to mind, but you can easily record a podcast with your smartphone. You can use your smartphone's Dictaphone app, but there are also several apps available for recording podcasts such as Anchor ( website , iOS app and Android app ) and Podbean Recorder ( iOS and Android ). For professional editing there is the Ferrite app (iOS).

You can also record a podcast via your laptop or computer. Connect your microphone to your laptop or computer. With free apps like Audacity (Windows and Mac) or Garageband (Mac) you can then record the audio and later edit it for your podcast.

Extra tip: do you record a podcast with your smartphone? Put your phone on airplane mode so that your audio recording does not stop when you receive a call.
