How do I attach my iPhone or other smartphone to a tripod?

We also recommend checking the maximum phone width the holder can accommodate. Many holders are universal and fit phones up to 10 centimetres wide, but this isn't always the case. You also need to check how the holder connects to your tripod. Most phone holders for tripods have a ¼ inch and/or 3/8 inch screw hole, allowing you to attach it quickly and easily. Another connection method is Arca-Swiss, for tripods with a compatible Arca-Swiss head.

How can I film both horizontally and vertically from a tripod?

If you want to shoot from different angles – horizontally (landscape), vertically (portrait), or on a slant – choose a rotating phone holder or one with an extra ¼ inch screw hole. Attach the phone holder to your tripod or handle and simply turn your smartphone to the desired orientation.
