A Bluetooth remote shutter is practical in various situations. While taking a group photo, but also when using a selfie stick. Set up your phone on a tripod, connect the remote shutter and you're ready to take the coolest photos or videos without needing help from anyone else. How do you connect a Bluetooth remote shutter to your smartphone or tablet?

To connect a Bluetooth remote control to your phone, follow these steps:

  1. first turn on the remote control. The remote shutter works on a (supplied) battery.
  2. Also turn on the Bluetooth on your phone.
  3. On your phone, connect (once) via bluetooth to the shutter (for example 'AB Shutter3') in your device list. Now the remote control is connected to your phone.
  4. Open your phone's camera app and set the app to photo mode or video mode.
  5. Once you press the button on the remote control, your phone will take a photo or start recording video.

How do I set my camera settings correctly?

It is important that the settings of your camera app on your smartphone are correct. With an Android smartphone or tablet it is often necessary to adjust this so that the Bluetooth remote shutter works properly.

Do you change the volume of your phone as soon as you press the remote shutter button? Then your camera settings are not set correctly. Go to settings in your camera app and choose to operate the camera with the remote control.

Using Burst Mode

Are you a fan of burst mode? With a Bluetooth remote control you can activate the burst mode of your smartphone. This way you don't have to touch your smartphone itself when it is at the perfect angle for your shot:

  • Set the volume up button on your smartphone (this is the default on iPhone) to activate burst mode.
  • Open the camera app on your smartphone and activate the photo mode.
  • Press and hold the shutter button on the Bluetooth remote control to take a series of photos in rapid succession.

Did you follow all the above steps properly, but the Bluetooth remote still does not appear with the devices you can connect to? It may be that the battery is empty. Sometimes these batteries run out by themselves, causing your Bluetooth remote to stop working altogether. You can easily open the Bluetooth remote yourself, then you can replace the battery. The Bluetooth remote control can often be opened by sliding out the back. Almost all Bluetooth remote controls use a CR2032 button cell battery.

If your Bluetooth remote still doesn't work, try to see if the remote can connect to another phone. If this doesn't work, you may have received a faulty product.
